Annotation : The edited volume explores the current state and evolving directions of French studies in Slovakia within the broader context of contemporary research in the humanities and social sciences. Bringing together contributions from Slovak scholars, it examines how the French language, literature, culture, and didactics respond to new academic, technological, and societal challenges. The publication is structured around three main thematic areas. The first part focuses on literary research and the renewal of literary studies through intercultural, comparative, and pedagogical approaches. The second section is devoted to foreign language teaching and learning, particularly French as a foreign language, addressing issues such as bilingual education, integrated language teaching, authenticity in didactics, and innovative educational methodologies. The final section examines broader societal questions, including multilingualism, translation of Slovak toponyms into French, cultural memory, internationalization of higher education, and the role of the French language and culture in contemporary public discourse. By combining interdisciplinary perspectives with reflections on digital humanities, globalization, and civic engagement, the monograph highlights the vitality and diversity of French studies in Slovakia.
